The Story of Temperance

I am so happy to be able to share with you the story of this beautiful little girl. A story that reminded me that even when it seems hard to see past layers of distress and adversity, powerful triumph can be awaiting us.

At just 24 weeks and 1 day, Temperance was born on September 5th weighing one and a half pounds. Yes, you read that right.

Any parent knows that welcoming a new child – even in the most typical of circumstances – entails all kinds of emotions and quite the adjustment period. So you can imagine the anxiety and uncertainty that must have come with giving birth to a baby 4 months earlier than expected and with a birth weight just 20% of average.

Temperance spent September to December in the hospital, her health and strength being carefully fostered. With two other children at home, bless her parents for being able to manage everything on their plates and doing so with grace.

But despite the months of unease and turbulence, Temperance is now a completely healthy infant with the world at her fingertips.  The teeniest, tiniest, most vulnerable little 24-week-old human blossomed into a beautiful baby girl who will be able to live and laugh and love and will never be bound or defined by the tumultuous start she had.

What a reminder that there is ALWAYS a reason to remain faithful and keep hope, no matter how dire the situation may seem.
